It has been a whirlwind couple of weeks … first it was spent celebrating my brother’s wedding in the gorgeous Tuscan countryside then heading to Florence for a few days on our own (promise to share next week). We’ve now been back in London a week and I’ve been so sick that I’ve been locked up at home. There was a brief Canadian thanksgiving celebrating over the weekend. I couldn’t completely indulge in seconds and thirds as I would have liked, but it was fabulous.
Looks a little like my last week…
I have been writing an interior blog about Scandinavian style and what inspires me since June and in October I opened a webshop with products from new and upcoming designers from the Nordic countries. One of our recent additions are the beautiful prints by Ylva Skarp.
She studied calligraphy at the Roehampton Institute in London and after returning to Sweden she decided to put her words on her own products. Her unique handwriting and craftmanship come on prints, pillows, ceramics and she makes words into a beautiful pattern. She has taken Sweden by storm and is now available in the shop Nordic Bliss.
Ylva’s home was recently featured in the Swedish interior magazine “Plaza Interiör” and I thought I would share these pictures with you. I love how her home is so personal and to see how she has used her own products to create her own style. She has a lovely mix of materials with some industrial features.
I love the lamps in her living room and her collection of glass bottles in different colors. If you like the look of her home as much as I did here are some suggestions to get the style. What do you think about her style and her products? Do you like words as art or do you prefer illustrations or photographs on your wall?
I’m looking forward to dinner with the other half’s family tonight because it seems like ages since we saw them… otherwise, I think a nice relaxed weekend is in order.
So yay to Friday! Hope you have a lovely busy one so that the weekend comes a little sooner. Any big plans??
